WHITE on the way out ??

My car has had compliments and everybody has said it looks like a pimpmobile or a private (funeral directors) ambulance, which is a pretty valid comment init...

Slightly adjusted to suit mine Pete :thumb:.

The SLs, Polar in front.

That's my perfect car Pete, if all goes to plan I'll be joining you in ownership in about 6 months.

White shows of the facelift S212's angles and curves beautifully, really does look a lot better than pre-facelift.

Good choice Lee :thumb:

Definitely need to be sad tossers and get them all lined up sometime lol.

They're having a wild stab in the dark in an effort to sound as though they're in the know?

I know a couple of traders that can't get enough of white cars (LR or Teutonic), I had to pay over book for this X5 to get a white one and I've got no worries that it'll sell quick when the time comes too.

Thanks for clearing that. I wasn't sure whether it was just opinion, or that I was dealing with the Gok Wan of car colours.

Used vehicle wise, we can't get enough white (maybe not calcite white) New, I think we still sell loads in white, especially with the contrasting night package.

Shame you can't order polar white on A, B & GLA/CLA. I'm not keen on Calcite.

The diamond white looks better on pre-facelift 212 IMHO ! :-)

:D

To be perfectly frank, you're the only one on this forum that can really answer this question because you see new car orders which ultimately filter down into used cars which you also sell.

Where white has been seen as a fad in years gone by, I think it's now here to stay for at least the foreseeable future i.e. the next four-five years.

White is definitely not out! We're getting more and more orders for white cars

Interesting, certainly seems to be the colour of choice for TV & glossy magazine adverts the last few years which must generate more orders than normal, but go into any UK car park & count the number of white cars & there are not many at all.

I've had one years ago & never again, I hate dirty looking cars!

Really? I see white cars everywhere. I guess it needs to be a car park full of new cars.

As my sis has been so busy and on-call all the way through Christmas (Waitrose IT) I offered to clean and fettle her opalescent white BMW Z4 (lovely engine and box, getting in an out is absurdly difficult). Once sealed with Great White paste wax additional layers of wax made no difference to the outcome - nice and clean and bright but no real depth of shine. I'm not a fan of white, like silver it really doesn't repay hard work in polishing.

Much as I've tried with various products, trying to polish silver is a total waste of time, once cleaned it's done. The only benefit of a light polish is to get rid of the slightly rough finish on the paintwork.
I've only had one Black car , my wife's had quite a few ( but she's never had to clean them), you can take all day to get them looking great but all it takes is a light shower or a dry windy day and all that effort disappears in a matter of minutes.

Those cars come in cirrus white

Sorry James. That's the colour I meant.:wallbash:

It's like a creamy white. Shame they don't offer the crisp polar white on those cars. The A45 would look great in polar.

That 'cirrus or calcite white' - I would buy in that colour. But the cars we looked at, ie c clss estate and GLC, all were in polar and then compared with another c class estat in diamond white - all had pan roofs and if i was buying enw, i would not pay the 600 odd quid for the diamond white and even if it was a no cost option re diamond white, I'd still think twice between polar and diamond white.

Yes. I know what you mean. Why pay £845 for diamond white when you can get polar for free?

Having said that many owners say that diamond white is amazing and they don't regret ordering it. It's all down to personal preference. I quite like the polar, even more so with pano roof & privacy glass. (Would be even better if they offered high gloss black belt-line instead of the chrome)

Agreed - I too had a white car years ago. Never again! It looks fabulous once cleaned, but only for about 20 mins before some dirt is blown onto the car.

On a different note, I had a black car once too. Never again. Getting swirl marks off a black car is incredibly hard and it gets dirty quicker than a white car!

In my day two tone cars were the bees knees, Vauxhalls beige and maroon, (stop laughing).......lol
