Yes a stash of royal mint gold sovereigns. Legal tender so exempt from CGT.[Non-political]
Is there a better way of ensuring a tax-free inheritance, than leaving behind a suitcase full of crispy twenty pound notes.....?
I could not figure out what was going on there, but got lost with the big wordsHaven’t been able to read what’s going on but i can probably tell its got something to do with that person who always keeps writing a big speech that nobody is interested in but never takes any advice mind you that doesn’t surprise me some people never change
I just find it impossible to refuse payment in cash
Especially from a lady with a charming smile
That’s no way to talk about our wonderful @MactechSomething I have noticed lately is that the longer the post the lower the fact count and higher the gormless opinion.
Maybe just a gigolo, but
How timely !Agreed, and this is also why the plan to abolish the use of cheques was shelved. But in time, the generation of people who use cash will pass away... young people not only do not carry or use cash, but in fact, they often don't even carry bank cards - only mobile phone apps (or a smart watch linked to the phone). I am ridiculed by the younger members of my family for carrying plastic cards
Young people also don't bother with landlines, or desktop PCs, or terrestial TV, etc.
Things are changing.
I always carry cash in my wallet; that said, I can't remember the last time I actually needed to use it.How timely !
Just a few days ago the young son of a friend of mine walked into our local and he couldnt buy himself a pint because his phone was dead , not usually an issue as there is often someone around with the means to plug another's phone in for a few minutes but on this day ? No charger or cable available .
After taking the pi$$ out of him for a while I bought him a pint.
As I said not being able to charge is a rare occurrence (especially in this particular pub) , , but it shows you can be left high and dry (pun intended) if tech lets you down and you don't have a bit of cash on you.
....or his card in his wallet. Most people I know who pay with phone/watch or whatever still carry their cards.....they just don't need to get them out much. You still need them for ATMs of course. How timely !

Timely indeed. Talking to a mate yesterday and he told me how he caught and paid for a bus fare with 4% of battery charge remaining on his phone - and no cash payment option. Which was the point at which I realised I can never use a bus here. I don't have smart phone (why would I when the there's insufficient reception at home to support it and I work from home?) and the buses don't take cash. And there's those who think I should be moving toward public transport. And another cohort who'd like the elderly to do the same. Elderly, like the woman I saw paying with cash in the supermarket yesterday. How timely !

It's the "13th Duke of Wybourne", AKA Paul Whitehouse from the Fast Show.Is this a young David Niven?
Our buses still take cash around here......but most just tap their card on the pad as they enter....job done......says the man who uses a "loser cruiser" just once a year to get to the works Xmas party!....and usually hate every minute of it!!Timely indeed.
