So I am a bit confused have fitted some W210 15" alloys to a W201 which currently has 15" steels. The tyre sizes on the originals were 185-65-15 and the new alloys have 205-65-15 (not sure if the different offsets of 49 on the original and 37 on the new could be the issue??). From doing the maths (on the various wheel/tyre calc sites) and also looking at Rochford wheels it appears this should be an ok match (205-60-15 according to their wheel/tyre combo) and yet the car grounds out on the tyres when they are fitted (arches)

Have I got my calculations badly wrong or is it possible there is something else wrong ie knackered suspension?

Would really appreciate some help on this one as the F-in-Laws merc looks rather cool with my old E class wheels but not much good if it can't be driven :(

Thanks in advance and good to be back on the forums even if only to be asking a question  :o

You have gained 20mm on the tyre width and pushed them out by 12mm. I would say that is the problem.
Maybe going for thinner tyres might be enough, otherwise it's have the wheels turned down to give the original offset.

Dont forget the 60 to 65 difference in the height will increase the diameter as well

So would I be right in assuming if the original tyres were put on the new wheels all should be OK? This would be the easiest solution??

The correct tyre size for these wheels on the W201 should be 205 55's.
