Being the logical person I am, I occasionally question why I put up with 13mpg(ish), £495 road tax and c£300 tyres that don't last very long.

After all, living in the city, with average speeds being pretty low, I could buy something more sensible to drive around in, couldn't I :dk:.

However, this morning, I turned the key and was greeted by the now familiar, but never soulless, exhaust bark.

As I cleared today's frost from the windscreen, with all four exhaust tips gently smoking away, fast idle dropped to a gentle, but powerful tickover rumble.

Off down the road, and even at part throttle there's loads of useable power to play with, including breaking traction in 2nd and 3rd, despite the LSD.

Just mile after mile of excellent driving fun, city or not.

Of course, nobody needs all that power, but if you're a petrolhead, you'll understand exactly what I mean :thumb:.

Logic re-affirmed - AMG's rule .

Couldn't agree more. I love the amg noise and performance. They have a brutal but classy character

For me its just knowing the power is there and enjoying the noise.

Agree totally. Everything is so well in tune; all parts compliment the next. It's nothing to do with the badge as if a Kia was like this, I'd own that too.

It's more than just the power and sound. If you've ever driven the non AMG version of your car, you will know what I mean.

I call it smiles per gallon !!:D
Couldn't think living without one!

All of the above and I'm lucky to have two of them, well until they go wrong and then I'll just offer an arm and a leg! :bannana::eek:

Actually I did make a big mistake this morning as my car wasn't iced over so I started it and drove of the drive, quickly joining the main road. I then realised that it was getting a bit misted inside so switched the climate to clear the screen, trouble was it hadn't warmed up and just made it worse so I was heading into the sun all misted up fumbling for the little pad and failing to find it eventually using the back of my hand to clear the screen to see where I was going as I was on a main road with no stopping!!

Wont do that tomorrow until the car is warmer I can tell you!

On my way home, there are two places I love. First is on a fairly steep climb on a 4 lane A road, second is a bend I take after a roundabout and the car is always in 3rd gear the bend straightens out. In both cases, I can press the accelerator a to a certain point and I get the most glorious sound under load at a perfect volume. Sounds better in the Summer with all the windows down mind.

Even the oomph has improved on the cold dry mornings - first time I've experienced since the mods halfway through the year.

What amazing cars these are (with some professional help!).

Totally agree. I don't think people believe me but I couldn't care less about a badge - let's face it, this badge doesn't have the best image in the industry either does it.

I've driven all sorts of brands but if I could get exactly the product I drive now in another brand, I would happily have it instead.
