Seems Win 10 won't work on my machine due to my having "NVIDIA GeForce GT330M - your display won't work"

Do you think NVIDIA will have an update or must I buy a new card?

Thanks

I am sure there will be an update released in due course.

Windows 10 is so so much better than 8 and 8.1, installed it on an old laptop during testing stage works great, will upgrade when RTM hits the street.

Says he happily sticking to Windows 7 for the time being.

Thanks AMGeed.

Do I have to have Win 10 already installed or will it still work OK until I install it?

You should be able to install the updated driver before and then install Windows 10 as and when.

Those with licence versions of 7 or 8 get free upgrades to 10....

Hmm.

"This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"

Just looking through further down that link - I cannot see your graphics card listed.

OK, well it does state that chipset for Sony Vaio notebooks - is that what you have Mike?

If you enter GT330M into the search further down the page, it brings up that driver??

Maybe time to visit NVidia website?

Your link is newer - this is the newest I could find doing it the specific way:

Drivers | GeForce

I suspect they may not make a Windows 10 driver for it if that chipset is too old.

There is a good chance the 8.1 drivers will work, although they may require some modification to be able to install them on Windows 10 (normally just a text file being modified).

The issue here is, if the 8.1 drivers cannot be made to work, you will end up with a generic driver and not be able to run the display at the resolution you do now (unless you use 1024 x 768 or something :D).

As you have the 330M, I guess it is a laptop so you can't upgrade the graphics card.

Your options then are replace the laptop, or wait until Windows 7 becomes unsupported in 2020 and buy a new laptop then running Windows <nothing - just Windows> (although you may be in to a different licence model which may mean paying for updates etc.).

Yes, It's about 4 or 5 years old I think.

Hmm, no chance then methinks at that age (again, unless the 8.1 drivers can be frigged to work!).

I have an Asus Essence STX sound card which I will need to use 8.1 drivers for as it is too old for Windows 10 drivers it seems (at this stage).

deleted info from a numpty

I think it is more the newer version of the driver will tell you to s*d off.

The older version of the driver, but for the 330M on 8.1, can sometimes be made to install thinking it doesn't matter which version of Windows it installs on to or that it is able to install on Windows 10 - but that requires editing text files - if it is even that easy!
