A couple of days ago, I discovered every/any audio track (mp3 160-320Kpbs) suffering a short 'stutter' towards the end. Not time-dependant (whether a two or twenty minute track) it occured when the seek/progress bar was about an inch from the right hand end.:dk:

As I hadn't used WMP for a few weeks, I've no idea how or when this glitch developed. I played tracks on othe "native" players - Audacity and L*m*w*re as well as downloading Real Jukebox. No problems there, so nothing wrong with my files or card.

I've finished up rolling back nearly a month on system restore and the problem has now disappeared.

Other than Windows updates in the interim, I have definitely not been playing around with the system!

Any experts able to suggest what might have happened?

Try getting the latest DirectX installed.. sounds bizarre but often this is a result of a windows update that makes sound and graphics cards drivers obsolete...
