just built a new pc,the problem i have is if i put the pc to sleep using the windows icon on the bottom task bar,all is ok when i press any key or move the mouse everything fires up all ok.
if the pc goes to sleep through the power settings when i press any key or move the mouse the pc fires up but the monitor does not,the fan on the graphics card fires up but nothing.
i have to press the reset button .
tried loading latest drivers and looking in bios but nothing.
help please

I have the same issue after I messed with the power settings. All was fine until I did that. My monitor tells me it has nothing connected. I am assuming that the power settings have switched off the graphic output or sync.

mercmanuk, I'd ensure all your drivers and BIOS are up to date including the chipset.

I'd then reset the power settings - for both of your sets of issues and try again...:

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options

..and edit the plan settings you are using.

In there, click on RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS FOR THIS PLAN and start again.

Windows sleep problems are ridiculously common, but often incredibly difficult to pin down. For example, my desktop machine slept and woke perfectly for months and then all of a sudden refused to sleep. Updating the mouse driver cured that!

All I can suggest is that you verify that every driver on the system is up to date.

Yup, a reet PITA.

I have an outstanding issue with Dell Latitude laptops going to sleep, coming out of sleep and not being able to unlock the Seagate drive encryption.

Unfortunately, I don't have lots of time to mess around trying stuff so all but display sleeping gets disabled...

guessing you've tried a system restore to a previous point in time before the problem occurred.

Assuming that has been tried, suggest turning off system restore before turning it back on again as sometimes the database can corrupt causing sleep problems like this. Deleting the old restore points and starting it again can often help.

must be the board that is faulty, just using the onboard graphics, tried two sets of ram and the monitor will not wake from sleep.tried clean win 7 installs on an ssd drive and a hdd both the same,no settings to adjust in the bios, must be the board.updated the bios and loaded all win 7 updates also

You are definitely using the latest drivers?

If you MB is new, chances are Windows 7 wont have them and you will be having to use a supplied disc or downloading them. If the former, you need to check they are the latest because they still might not be...

updated the bios, checked all the drivers from the website all up to date,!!!
