Windscreen Gone

I had a stone modify my windcreen on the way home last night which left a nice starry shape in the bottom r/h side of the screen, so I thought that I would get it sorted today and i could get it repaired. Well Mr Frosty had other ideas, when i got in the car at 5:40am to go to work, my star shape chip had turned into an 8 inch split in the screen (bang goes £50). Can i get a genuine screen fitted or do I have to go to the likes of Autoglass?
The current screen was fitted by RAC less than a year ago, and they were pants at returning my car clean, and the screen had load of little flake marks where the motorway had done its stuff. I have never had a screen go like this one before.

I had a genuine screen fitted - I just called the ins. co. and said that's what I wanted and there was no problem at all. In fact I had this twice last year!!

Me 2. Just demand that its replaced with one - takes longer to source, but I argued the warranty would be invalid if it wasn't replaced with MB's own spec glass.

I used RAC AutoWindscreens via admiral insurance.

If you have an auto sensing wiper, The chances are you will get an MB screen. I would not use MB to replace it though, as they will farm the job to a small local chap. Go RAC or Autoglass and check the works done properly. MB are going to change my screen for the second time soon as they ruined the vin plate in the windscreen when they replaced it. after the first screen developed a fault at the time an RAC chap agreed that they would change a windscreen as many time as needed to, as they do not pay the bill for the time ;-)

Autoglass are changing it today, as they had to order it. They dont keep the rain sensor type in stock at my local branch? so I have a app at 4pm today and need to wait upto 2 hours to get it back. Time for a nap in their reception area I think. So far its grown 8 inches yesterday, and 2 inches so far today, just with temp fluctuation.
