Bit of a strange one! This week me and the other half have noticed wind noise "howling" from around the windscreen area. Starts at around 55mph and gets louder the faster you go!
When the wipers are at the top of the sweep the noise goes away I checked all seals can find anything arry but now that we've noticed it it's rather annoying and you can hear it over the stereo. Also it's much worse when you drive into a head wind.
I'd say it's only recently started as around Halloween, we drove about 1000 miles on the motorway and it was completely quiet.
It did have a windscreen replacement around 15 months ago so not sure if that's a factor?

*EDIT* Forgot to mention in the title that it's a 2010 S204

That's where I'd be looking first - have you replaced the wipers recently with a different style/brand?

I haven't the wipers have been on for about 7 months due a change anyway genuine Bosch ones. So I'll start with that.

I doubt that will be it...look at the rubber that surrounds the screen and check it for splits and tears. Is the noise coming from the top of the screen? I had a similar thing on my 528i....a bit of super glue on a split in the trim/seal sorted it.

We had a whistling windscreen in the mid 90's on our new SAAB 900. There was a recall as it was a bad batch of glue.

Sounds like the center either bottom or top. I have taken the trims inspected/cleaned and I can't find anything out of the ordinary. It's just came out of the blue!

May sound odd but have you checked the security of your door mirrors ie are they properly seated?
If your auto close is turned off, then open/close them a few times and check they are 100% secure and seated as they should be
I doubt its the wipers.
If the above fails, then the only thing I can think of is have the screen out and then put back it.

Standing outside the car, reach inside and try to push the windscreen out of the car, you may find your windscreen sealant has failed along the top edge, mine was leaking water in and the Autoglass bloke demonstrated to me.
My windscreen was also making a noise.
He reckons it’s quite comm on the Mercs.

Friday 3rd Jan the car is going back in to have the seal checked around the windscreen.

I have checked the mirrors and all seems fine, so we'll see what they say then, but the noise is definitely coming from the screen but can't decipher if bottom or top.
