Windscreen scuff

A rather large object on the motorway has left a scuff ( not a chip or scratch) about the size of a 20p coin on the windscreen.

Any suggestions to remove or reduce the appearance? I know there is an internet myth about using toothpaste.


Of course there is the 'use a hammer and claim on the insurance' route...
 
I could help here, but you'd probably argue then call me a twatt...

I have dealt with such scuffs... :)
 
Id get the hammer out tbh..... Dieselman, why bother posting then, all this arguing seems pretty petty...
 
I'm also interested to know the answer to this. I was about to Google "polish glass scratches"...
 
As we know glass is a pretty hard compound. I always use s D.A. With a rayon pad with lake country glass cutting compound. It's a lengthy job, but the results can be quite rewarding.
 
Toothpaste works on plastics, don't see it doing much for glass.
