Windscreen wipers in vertical position

On a 2008 216 cl500 how do you get the wipers to stay in a vertical position after turning the ignition off for cleaning/ changing purposes

Power the car off when the wipers are in vertical position. I think there is a way to force them in vertical position but there is no info

Watched brother in law just pull his to vertical in a 59 plate Audi TT at the weekend. BMW have instructions in their manual to move the wipers to vertical. Sorry, can't help with Mercedes other than turn off ignition when wipers are vertical as #2

I was wondering the same thing but my manual (C63S) says just turn the ignition off, which I find astonishing given other manufacturers actually put a feature in to do this (my previous two Audi's for example).

Try turning the ignition off and then opening the driver’s door with the wiper in mid sweep...

Not sure if your car is the same but on the W204 once the keys are out the ignition you can manually move the wipers about the screen

What ? are you saying that with the ignition off you can man handle the wiper arms into any position ? Confused

Yes with the ignition off I can manually move the arms across the screen, I assume the motor has an electromagnetic feature of some sort?
