Depending on the shape/design of the "wood" trim, it could be vinyl-wrapped, after a bit of rubbing-down to smooth out the rough edges.

I've vinyl-wrapped the downmarket-looking brushed aluminuim trims on my ML. They look great and have proved hard-wearing.

Google "vinyl wrap wood" to get plenty of examples of how copnvincing it can look.
