Hi ppl,

I've a C220CDi (W203) and recently I notice a strange wooshing sound from the engine as I rev it ( as opposed to the normally whistling sound when the turbo kicks in). I think it sounds like air being squeezed out, possibly out of a split turbo hose or pipe. Has anyone come across this before, as far as pick up power goes, it still there, I would not say I've lost power. but perhaps the power developed is less than optimal here. Any hints? Cheers.

Maybe a look under the hood would be a good idea??

Check all hose clamps and telltale signs on hoses?

Check for air leaks around the Charge Air ducting and the Intercooler, you may have a leak in this area or one of the ducting connections to the Intercooler has come loose.

Hi,

I had the same problem happen to me on my brand new Vito 2.2 CDi.
The 24 hour assist MB mechanic who came out to me said it's not uncommon for either the turno sensor to fall out or a hose to come off.
He would not let me drive it off the motorway as it was rainning and if water is drawn into the intercooler or turbo it will wreck it. I had all hoses, sensors and intercooler replaced under warranty.
Does this help? What I'm trying to say is don't drive it!

Hi again,

Yes sent the car to a my backyard mechanic and he spotted some loose clipping/connector on the turbo hose and fixed for a small amount. All is fine right now...cheers everyone for the input....
