Apart from the rust, low-specification and muddy engine bay it doesn't look too bad, as long as he doesn't have an unrealistic reserve on it.

Do you think the rust could be fixed, or will it eventually spread meaning the car has to be scrapped?

Assume the AC doesn't work. If you haven't already use the search function on this site and look up W124, S124 etc. there must be hundreds of threads on here which go through the pros and cons of these cars.

A good one is a great car and might be relatively cheap to run, a bad one will cost a lot of money to put right. I wouldn't buy without a test drive especially at that mileage.
