I finally got around to writing the words to go with my stack of pictures I took when I last dismantled a COMAND 2.0 unit to clean the roller (so it ejects CDs reliably) and the laser (so it reads disks better). So, if anyone is interested, its here...

Anyone ever had to replace the laser on a Becker/MB unit? My APS30 has been refusing to read any cds whatsoever. Just get the "CD DISC ERROR" in the display. Local auto hi-fi shop (Becker dealer) reckons it'll be £100-£150 for a replacement laser! And... it may have to go to Becker UK then...
