Hello,
I renewed my front discs and pads (Brembo drilled) on my W204 C350 amg line about 8 weeks ago and all has appeared to be working well since.

Today I went for a short leisurely drive and found that any hard(ish) braking above 60/70mph causes quite severe vibration through the wheel as if the discs are warped, but anything below 60 doesn’t give any vibration what so ever.

I find it hard to believe the discs are warped since they’re fairly new and a good brand, does anyone have an suggestions as to what I could check that might be causing it?

It might be worth mentioning that the car does pull to the left very slightly even though I’ve had the tracking checked and triple checked - but after driving down many different types of road I’ve decided to put it down to the camber of road itself.

Thanks in advance 👍🏼👍🏼

I’m going to dismantle and inspect them at some point in the week. Ill make a point of checking lubrication and the cleanliness 👍🏼

Try jacking it up with with the wheel on and pulling the wheel from side to side and up and down to look for play

Up and down is the arms, side to side for trackrods

This was on here a couple of weeks ago and believe it or not he had the wrong discs on ,if your only feeling it at 60mph ish jacking up with the wheel on you wouldn't be able to tell imo

Thrown balance weight perhaps. If it started suddenly then something has changed suddenly.

Worn control arm bushings are common causes of the symptoms you describe.

Sorry for late response.
So far I have replaced the already new discs as recommended by a local mechanic - no change

All balancing checked where 1 alloy was found buckled. I’ve had it straightened by an alloy refurb company but it still required lots of weights afterwards when balanced (suspected cause of vibration still) - no change

Paid a Mercedes specialist who guaranteed alloys and alloys were the issue.

4 new tyres 80% removed vibration during normal driving which is why I haven’t yet completely solved the issue yet as it’s not an issue driving round town.

waiting to find a replacement alloy A2044014102 although I still feel control arms could be the problem

Was the hub cleaned up properly when the discs were fitted. This is VITAL. We use a flap disc on a battery grinder.

There should be no movement

I had the exact same issues on my last car, Mine was due to a buckled alloy, was told they could not repair because it had been stretched or something, bought new alloy and all vibrations went away.

Best thing to do is swap the front wheels with the rears and see if the vibration goes from the steering wheel and into your drivers seat, if it does then you know its the wheel 100%

I , like the OP , find the whole 'warped disc' thing a bit of a misnomer. I am prepared to get shot down in flames here but it takes an enormous amount of abuse to warp/bend a brake disc on a standard road car while being driven on the road.

My own car has 345mm cross drilled and ventilated discs up front - probably a big deal in 2006 - they are 30 mm thick and weigh something like 11 Kg. The chance of warping them on the road is probably zero , on the track ? the brake fluid would probably give up the ghost before the disc warped.

I am not saying brake rotor warping does not exist , but in my opinion 9 out of 10 times the experience of 'warped discs' on a road going car is probably something else wrong with that car.

I have experienced pulsating brake pedal 'modulation' from badly grooved discs , but that is not 'warped' discs.

The only warped discs I've had is on a mondeo and they are renowned for it
The discs were shi!e

Warped discs are pretty common, especially once they have worn down to half life, it doesnt take much for a disc to warp in normal use, remember especially so in winter hot disc freezing cold puddle, it doesnt take a great deal of out of true to cause vibrations when braking, stick a DTI on a warped one you will be surprised how little its actually out. My E class is doing the same high speed braking causes a moaning noise which is the disc/pads overheating and slight vibration this is a sure sign brakes are wearing thin and its time to replace. Just bought a full set of Ferodo from my local boys Brakes international
