Hi guys, I hope you can help with this one.
The smoke problem on my 02 320CDI became almost non-existant when I made a concious effort to go out in the car for five consecutive days.
However, after the car was left standing for 3-4 days (cold weather remember) I started it up Saturday morning and it was as bad as it has ever been.
It is as though it is steam coming from the exhaust (blue/white smoke) and it really does stink.
After running the car on Saturday, (60 miles), I started it up Sunday morning and there wasn't any smoke of ANY description - not even the usual blue/black puff associated with a diesel engine, and Saturday night was freezing!
In the past 6, months the I have had changed: all injectors, all glowplugs, MAF & thermostat and had a B service.
There is no denying that the car is running well. It really does pick up well and on Saturday (albeit with quite tender handling) the car acheived 47.1mpg on a 60 mile run.
Before I go to the expense of having the EGR valve/s replaced can anyone think of a reason for the smoke when the car has been stood for a while.
Also, does the car have one or two EGR valve/s. I called Inchcape for a price and they said it had two.
Any help much appreciated.
