Greetings,
We have at work an 05 plate A170 auto with issues, when engaging gears, the box will sit for a second or 2, then engage a gear, only to drop out again within a second, does this with D and R, sometimes if you try and pick the revs up while it's in a false neutral then the revs will not pass 1000RPM, other times it will climb up to 2.5-3K before dieing back to 1K, I've not taken the car out onto the road, just driving it across our yard and you can gradually build up speed, however the gearbox is constantly engaging/disengaging gears.

I've not yet gathered any MB specific diagnostics equipment or done any in-depth diagnostics of the systems, just looking to get some possible/probable causes and remedies for this fault.

Thanks in advance,
AdamN.

As an update, just had a diagnostics done by a local (supposed) indy, gave 3 errors on his DSD (IBM & silver box)...

2732 - Impermissible opening of hydraulic clutch 'forward gear' has occurred in the CVT.

8841 - While driving, the actual hydraulic pressure is implausible in comparison with the specified hydraulic pressure in the CVT.

0894 - The steel thrust belt in the CVT is slipping.

Any idea's if this is an internal fault or electronics? and if internal, suggestions on causes?

Thanks,
Adam.

Oil level ok? ie not enough hyd pressure and belt slip.

Wife had 2 minis and both were cvt and were menat to have a bad rep but both were fine in the time she owned them.

05 cvt

Having problems with my A170 CVT as well. I get a lot of judder/rumbling between 20-40mph like its holding onto the wrong gear. I can accelerate out of it, but it seems to be getting worse. Thought I could live with it until next service but might get it looked at before

Hello

I have exactly the same fault codes, did you get the car fixed. If so what was the result

Thanks

Hi AdamN, blackpool and spikelspouse,
Would you please update on your problem. FOr my case, I poured half a liter transmission fluid and no more problem since then.

Looking forward to get your experience.

Kind regards.

Have you checked that the level is now correct and, where were / are you losing fluid from?
