hi i have aproblem with my gearbox 300d 1991 with 420,000! reverse is slipping, ive had aquote from dronsfield of £793 fully fitted inc vat what does anyone think?

I think at 420,000 miles the gearbox has a right to be slipping...

If the price is for a recon box or a proper recon of your box then it's probably about right. Why not try a local autobox specialist?

Agree with dieselman. An exchange rebuilt 4 speed hydraulic box from a local specialist shouldnt be too bad and you should also get a worthwhile warranty!!! A close examination of the warranty conditions is good indication of the companies faith in their products quality;)

the box is from dronsfield mercedes in oldham as anyone delt with them?

yes I have and not been impressed. Tried to rip me off with an engine and then I recieved abusive phone calls when I tried to get my money back. Took 2 months to re emburse me. If you want a gearbox for a 124 ask me :D I just happen to have one spare. I could fit it for you too.

warranty??
