124 Pick Up.

What's not to love there John

I assume one of these would have to come from an estate originally or at least use the estate fuel tank/exhaust/rear suspension set up. A good publicity wheeze for a Merecedes Specialist runabout but ultimately pointless. If God had wanted a W124 pickup old Gottlieb's mates would have made one. There were attempts-----?

and even rumours of a NISSAN/MERCEDES joint venture in recent times- Nissan pickup body with Mercedes /trim/mechanicals for the lucrative American Market but seems to have disapppeared?

ps I was pondering the geographical popularity of the pickup truck the other day and can only conclude its popularity resides mainly in predominantly dry climates ---anywhere with an oceanic climate rather than continental climate= wet a lot of the time --- people prefer vans. :dk:

pps I believe that the popularity of the large engined 4x4 in the states dates back to their first anti smog legislation back in the 1970's- while the rest of the American vehicle fleet were all down sizing to weedy 2/2.5 litre 4 cylinder petrol engines 4X4 Vehicles were exempt!!!! So if you wanted to continue to drive a BIG V8 gas guzzler in some states like you used to then a 4X4 pickup was the way to go. and the rest as they say is history.

If you dont need 5 seats in your s124, why not? It's something different after all.:thumb:

Aaargh! Thats one of those 'once seen I wish I could erase it from my brain' moments! Strangely enough the one in the OP doesn't look so bad...
