Hi all,

Both the windscreen and rear window washers have suddenly stopped working (predictably just as the MOT is due). The wipers are fine and the fuse, according to the fusebox cover, governs both them and the washers. My question is: is there another fuse somewhere for the 2 washer motors or have both motors given up at the same time, unlikely as it sounds?

Car is a 95 E320 estate.

Many thanks.

Have you turned the fuse in it's holder ?

Try another fuse anyway.

Hi, thanks for that, but the wipers themselves wouldn't work if the fuse was dodgy in any way.

It depends how much electrical resistance is being introduced to the circuit by a badly corroded fuse and holder.

As you know, an electrical resistance reduces the voltage so, whilst it may
may be sufficient to run one part, the reduced voltage may be unable to run both items together ie. washers and wipers - just a thought.

Problem solved. I was a bit of a twit basically - the front washer motor had indeed gone; the rear was working but the pipe was snagged and so no water was getting out (and somehow I managed not to hear the motor itself). So I swapped them round for the MOT which I'm happy to say it passed with no advisories (again!).

Thanks for all your help.
