Took my car over to Ian on Monday, he really is a top man.
He changed the autofluid, filter and rusty pipe, sorted my steering which needed a new damper and steering link, sorted the vacuum pipes, checked the whole car over and adjusted the wheel bearings and lights.

Its like a new car now, the diesel knock has gone the steering is perfect as is the auto box:)

All this for less than a Merc dealer would charge for a service !

I drove over from York to use him as I will when anything else needs doing.

In my opinion, If you need any work doing its worth travelling even a long distance to use Ian

I agree, Ian has saved the day on two of my Mercs, in as many weeks !

He has managed to prolong the life of an old W124 230TE by fitting a new head and has just fitted a new diff to my 200 TE - like you say, if a job is worth doing .... give it to Ian !!!!

How? You haven't mentioned anything that would be of relevance.

What an odd question/statement. Or am I missing the point?

Point now clear!

DM is asking what was done to cure the diesel knock as it was not stated.

There was quite a bit of air trapped in the lines that fed the injectors. Changed a seal and renewed the fuel filter as it was leaking. Vacuum pipes all over the place, ie not on the correct pegs (don't think that had anything to do with it though) and just a general tighten up.

Took my car up yesterday to fit my electric front seats. Although I could tell Ian was still having trouble with his back, he and his sparky were confident to get the job done. Forgot to ask Ian, do you need my contact details? :D

Sorry, I missed this, I think as Ian says there was air getting in to the fuel line, but it deffo sounded loads quieter after the vac pipes had been conneted up correctly, no Idea why though.

Another good job by Ian

Today got him doing something a bit different, Changing front wings on my 190 as old ones where rusted beyond belief:eek: . Body kits are nice but a pain when need to do this job.

Took a bit of time as one of the wings just dident want to go on properly, but Ian persisted until he got it sorted.:D :D

Excellent work and a good day.

Well Ian does it again, got home from work tonight and my drivers window would not go up, took door card off but was rapidly running out of daylight what do you do, correct ring Ian and as usual he offers to hang on and wait till I can get to his, then quickly take the motor off test it (dead), find a replacement and fit. Job done

Excellent service above and beyond the call of any mechanic, cheers Ian
