Hi all

Due to some wiring butchery I have discovered behind the radio in my sl (and hopefully the cause of the battery flattening) I need to get the centre console wood off. I need to have a look in there to see whats going on. The back edge adjacent to the cassette holder does lift up, i've removed the screw at the bottom edge of the little storage compartment, but dont know what to do next. How do I remove it?

that link doesnt really show what i need but thanks nonetheless

he wood is in one piece unlike a 124 of which ive (sadly) taken out loads. it seems to be free up to the flap (storage compartment) but then binding, and I dont know how to free the front of the a/c controls.

going out for another butchers in a minute

ok, sorted, 'tis easy!
put your hand in the radio slot and push out the c/control unit, disconnect the electricals. Get the stowage cubby interior liner out after removing the front screw. Take out the rear screws. From the c/control or aircon unit slot there are two 8mm bolts, use a 1/4 drive socket. Pull the wood back towards the rear of the car and down from under the dash while disconnecting the electricals.

Seemples.

How does the front stowage interior liner come out (the one with the flap)? I was trying to remove this the other day to see if I could permanently install a Garmin in there and not only could I not remove the liner but I've also now disturbed the spring on the flap so I need to get it open to put it right.

I've removed the screw near the entrance of the cubby hole but it still wont budge. What else needs undoing?

Have you removed the stereo etc? From memory once the stereo and climate is out its a lot easier to see whats what.

Yeah I did this and undid the two bolts bhind the radio but still no joy, I must be missing something.

have pm'd you sp!ke
