One of my 19 " spoked wheels has started to rust around the hub.
The wheels are just over 3 years old and therefore out of warranty.
I've only had the car 3 months.
I should have noticed it when I first checked the car BUT there is so much to check when buying a car that the rust escaped my attention.
When I say rust I mean water has got between the lacquer and the alloy and it has started to bubble around the hub.
It is only a small area but in time i'm sure it will spread.
Do I need to get the whole wheel sand blasted and lacquered or will it 'touch up'

Suggestions please ???

Difficult to say without looking at a pic - smart repair IMO would only be a short term solution and not look right - I would personally get the whole wheel refurbed via decent wheel refurbisher - ensure that the paint matches existing wheels.

If that's all you've found wrong after getting your new purchase home then you're laughing!

Is the wheel diamond cut? if so, it will need to be refurbed to fix the problem. If it's a normal painted wheel it could be done by a smart repair service, I would imagine a full refurb would be longer lasting, but the convenience of a smart repair maakes it worth considering, especially if you don't have a spare the same size to use while you wait for a full refurb.

I suspect you are talking about diamond cut 19" wheels. Your choices...

1. Leave it alone
2. Refurb with diamond cut
3. Refurb with painted finish

You can find my threads on 2, you can only do this 2 times on the MB wheels before it becomes an issue. My advice choose 1 or 3. My refurbished 19" wheels will be painted a colour of my choice when they need a refurb, probably a black or near black, which will look nice and last a lot longer than diamond cut.

You should post some pictures so we can see how bad the problem is, and BTW it is normal on these wheels for this to happen.
