just noticed today the temperature heading towards the 100 mark while stationary as soon as I reved the engine the temp dropped to just over the 80 and settled there, checked the viscose fan at idle & was easy to stop, could the fault still be the fan?

you need to do the carrot test :D Search the forum using the function above and you will find out how to do it.

carrot test

Done the test & the fan stops, is the viscose unit easy to come out and any ideas about the price of replacement.?

Cheers.

Cost of the unit is £59 from GSF. It can be tricky but having a 2.6 makes life easier. You can remove the front slam panel for easier access. The big nut on the fan is LEFT HAND thread, so be careful. Any probs, just shout.

Thanks very much for the info, the job will now have to wait 2 weeks as I go off to an oil rig, can you give me the address or phone number for GSF.

Cheers.
