190e 1.8 (190e 2.3 16v)
Any body know where i could get some engine mods for my 1.8 190e,
i know there probably isnt many but i would like to make it a bit quicker on acceleration,
iv been looking around but with no joy
There must be somthing out there i can get.:(

Fix the cosworth!

dont worry im fixing that after my holiday but still would like the working one a bit quicker in the mean time

In the nicest possible way there's nothing much quick about a 190E 1.8, and there's no fast track way of gaining worthwhile performance from them.

Try and use any cash that you would be spending on it to fix the 2.3-16 instead, or maybe even sell the 1.8 and buy a 2.6? :)

Good luck with the cosworth, any idea what's wrong with it yet?

I know its 0nly a 1.8 but it can go when it wants two i have got a custom made exhaust system tho that does help a bit plus air filters plugs leads ect (not braging or anything but i do get told a lot how good it sounds :o )
any way the cossie the timing unsets its self every time i set it up which im told is down to worn sprockets as the chain has jumped some teeth so i got a lot of taking apart to do good job i ant using at the mo.

Might be cheaper to source a decent S/H engine in all honesty - the timing chain and sprockets tend to wear due to a weak original tensioner and chain design. To replace the chain, sprockets, tensioner and guide rails comes to something silly like £1000 just for the parts!
If the timing has jumped badly it may have caused some subsequent damage to valves etc and this will end up getting expensive.

Yeah i no it could be costly but im going to take the head of and take a look, i got nothing to loose by doing that and il see what the situation is be for doing anything.
If it dont look good i will have some spare parts for sale if anyone is interested.
