1993 600 sl

Im no expert on that model, but with all the work it needs, its price seems rather ambitious. Is it compulsory to have shares in ESSO/BP/TEXACO to run that engine ???

I thought most of the work had been done? In which case price seems reasonable, if you want a thirsty motor!

If your in the market for a V12 it looks pretty good value to me, especially as the loom has been changed, low mileage too!

Just make sure everything works properly, in particular the Adaptive Damping System and check for oil leaks to the front of the heads, very costly to put right, I should know!;)

It could be an absolute steal on the one hand, or an absolute wallet sapping nightmare on the other.

Do ya feel lucky punk...... well do ya? :D

My thoughts entirely Sp?ke. Intriguing though eh?

I suspect my inate cowardice is going to be a bit of an obstacle (where's that poultry picture)?

There's someone I work with big cojones who might be willing to take this on though.:ban:

Seems an honest enough ad. (doesn't claim the wheels are genuine AMG, for example).

If the car checks out in the metal it could be a reasonable buy. A 500 would be a safer option though, IMHO, and only fractionally slower 0-62. Haven't got the pre-facelift figures, but for the 1997 models the 500 is 6.5 secs and the 600 is 6.1. Fuel consumption is a bit academic, but the combined figures are 19.8 mpg for the 500 and 18.2 for the 600 (1997 figures again).

Sounds like an honest advert....my only concern would be with the main engine ECU....I assume that the engine wiring harness shorted out, which then took out a coil pack....question...did it also do damage to the ECU?....I'm assuming not as he says the car is a good runner, but I would probably want to did a little deeper on this issue.
