w210 e300 diesel
Hi all,

i decided to take a look at my fathers w210 e300 diesel again after he passed away earlier this year.
the car has been sat on the drive for about 7months.

ive been arguing with myself as to weather i should fix the car up or sell it for spares??

if i was to keep it, it would need alot of work for it to be road worthy.

the following is what need to be done on the bodywork side of things....yes its also suffering on the mechanical side too.

front arches rusted/metal flaking off.
rear arches rusted/metal flaking off.
floor is rotten, has a big hole under/around the drivers seat.
all doors have rust on them.

also while im here id like to ask- is it possible to replace the front wings/bonnet and bumper and replace them with the facelift version?w211? is anything else required for this conversion?

now im unsure if i should include the following in this thread as its not bodywork but it still effects my decision to keep it or not, so...-

the brakes are also acting up since its been sat so long.

im thinking 1 or all of the engine mounts are shot as the automatic gearshifter doesnt sit in place in conjunction with the numbers on the shifter surround.

when driven, and the car changes gear, it does so put very violently almost like someones driven into the back of the car giving a liplash sort of effect.

i would like to think i could do something with it but im wanting help in weighing up my options.?

would i be spending more than what the car is actually worth?

im still unsure! i think it maybe that it was my fathers car, id really like to save it if i could.
im going to be taking a proper look at the rot.

could somebody advise me on good mercedes breakers in the uk? as close to nottingham or derby would be a bonus.!

now regarding the rot in the floor, i was thinking of having it cut out and a plate tig welded in place, there is only one area of rot on the floor.

as this isnt my primary car,i can take my time to address the issues it has.

i am derby based and could have a look at the welding side of the car, if its worth doing i would also actully do the welding for you, at a reasonable price.
