Hello this is my first post :o the car has been fine until this morning but now the engine cranks over but doesn't start. The key fob opens and closes the doors and the lights on the door handle and rearview mirror appear to flash as normal. Tried the spare key but then the lights on the rear mirror flashed red/green together - not normal. I'm at the battery disconnect/connect stage but would this make more problems?
Any help greatly appreciated
Mike

Sounds like you may have a fault regarding the stop solenoid or a leak in the fuel lines.

The mirror LEDs will flash like that if either the vehicle battery or the fob battery is low. Considering it happened with your spare key and you've given the car a lot of cranking either scenario is a possibility.

That was quick! fuel doesn't seem to be leaking; where's the stop solenoid Cheers.

same sympton as mine last wednesday - turns out is was the diesel injectors. just cost me £800 parts & labour & £140 recovery.

I have the W203 C220 CDI (2003) ran fine, then wouldn't start with what appeared to me to be immobiliser fault. after turning engine over for 30seconds or so and stopping you could here a vacuum noise coming from a vacuum valve located OSF area of engine bay, has grey vacuum tube and an air filter attached to the base of it. I was loaned a booster pack but still wouldn't start.

ended up getting it recovered. and fault was found to be one of the injectors. replaced all 4 in the end.

It had been running perfectly 30mins before.

Managed to start it this morning using Easystart. Which pointed to the glowplugs (must have only had one working up until yesterday). I changed
the centre two plugs and all seems fine. But how do you get at the two outer glowplugs without removing inlet manifold, is this possible?

It's a manifold off job I'm affraid. But it's not a hard job at all. IBW and myself changed mine in about an hour start to finish. Just remember to order new O-rings for the inlet manifold (these cost pence from MB).
