When I was younger I used to prep all of my cars right up to applying a cellulose primer, I rang my local paint shop the other day for a quote for a full repspray with me doing the prep and primer and he told me that by law now they have to use 2 pack waterbased paints and my primer would react with their finish.

I cant afford to put the car in for everything as she needs a lot of work ... so my question is does anyone now of an aerosol primer that wont react with the paint shops paint?

I would be amazed if any decent body shop would take a job on like this. The quality of the end result is more about the prep than the top coat so I would have thought they would want to do the prep themselves.

I use Lechler Hydrofan which is a water-based etch/filler primer, however it's not in aerosol form AFAIK.

You can still use solvent provided you have stock , so not sure why they claim it's the law.
