OK so they are in the boot, firstly is there a jumping point under the bonnet. Secondly I have compared batteries with the step fathers CLK320, same year and model, mine is what I would call a 'standard' size, his is about twice as long and looks like it would be suitable for a tank.

Is this right?

Thanks.

What does your handbook say should be in there.

Mine is massive ( my battery is too )

It's not a jump starting point , it is a point to introduce power to the car to power up the central locking etc to get into the boot to the battery , as no doubt your lock will have died through lack of use ( everyone uses the remote boot release )

From what I read on the forum the other night. There is a point under the bonnet, usually covered by a "cap" with a big + sign on it.

This you should use only to "wake the car up" Pop the boot and do a normal jumps start from there directly to the battery.

Others more qualified will be along shortly to state the correct way to jump start.

Battery sizes. Check the handbook for the correct amp hour rating for your car.

Thanks, know what you mean about the boot release; the auto release needed a bit of adjustment so I had to use the key and it was a tad stiff, compounded of course by the key not having anything to really grip with.
