2002 C270 power steering pump.

Morning all, on the drive home from work yesterday an odd noise started, whining going up and down with engine speed. When I get home and have to maneuver the car forward and reverse to get into my parking space it's obvious the power steering has gone. A quick check on line for a new pump reveals a very wide price difference from 20 quid off ebay for a used one to over 400 from GSF and Eurocarparts, many pattern parts at around 80-100. I suppose I need to get the correct part number off the old unit but I never thought a simple pump could cost so much.

Find power steering and it should state your pump number.

Sure you do have enough pas fluid and no leaks?

Just taken the cover off and checked the level and all good. started the car and turned the wheel lock to lock and it was fine, smooth and effortless except for a slight squeal which I guess is the pump bearing? It was very hot yesterday and I had driven 90 miles, best to swap it out before it dies completely.
