2003 E55 estate - advertised for nearly a year i'm sure!

theres a few E55`s on autotrader that have been there a while, mainly due to being overpriced (and underspec`d) they were there when i initially started looking and are still there now a year or so on!

You never know, the way used car prices have risen they might even be better off selling it now than a year ago!

I looked at an ML at this dealer last year and was not at all impressed. "FMBSH" in the advert equated to 2 MB service stamps in 62,000 miles in the actual book!

I actually looked at this car last week. I believe that they sold this car approx a year ago and have recently taken it back into stock after trade-in, that's what I was told anyway!

This was the first one I have looked at, as I am looking for an estate car to replace my S-type R Jag, not many options out there really, either one of these, C55 or RS6!?

I am about to put on a post for advice as heard some horror stories re actually running any one of these!!

I remember seeing that at Carlians about a year ago too, not sure if it did sell - I'm sure they would tell you.

I've had my eye on an R Class that's been with a dealer for about 4 1/2 months.

I've also come across a 996 Targa that's still up for sale with the same Porsche specialist almost 1 year down the line (not sure if it sold in between).

I know that this would be unheard of for run of the mill cars but I'd be interested to hear how long dealers would keep hold of something before either dropping the price to something more realistic / achievable or simply trading it on. I'm sure it's all down to what the car 'owes them'.

It would be easy to check if the dealer is telling the truth as the V5 would show the date that the last owner purchased the car.

Interesting to see the comments on parking sensors......personally it wouldn't bother me, but Im interested to know whether i'm in my own little world on this issue or whether people do consider parking sensors as essential.

i would prefer to have them but would retro fit if i had to in order to get the right car

I have had them retrofitted before, although it's possible to retrofit original Parktronic, or any other type of parking sensor I'd much rather have the real thing.

It would be a deal breaker for me I'm afraid but that's just me. I remember one of the sales guys at Mercedes Direct thought I was being awkward when we were looking for a car with Parktronic. He said don't worry we can retrofit Parktronic to any Merc. I thought hmmm, sounds interesting (as it is possible). So I asked if they had any cars in that they had done, he insisted that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Anyway after about a 30 minute wait they find a car that has just come back from its retrofit and he shows me this C Class with what looked like QuickPark with the rear only sensors :D

They also had an S Class that they retrofitted sensors to. I think they wanted something like £450 for the retrofit - it certainly wasn't original Parktronic.

Anyway, for me it's a bit like COMAND, once you've had it you won't go back.
