Hi everyone, I'm trying to get a definitive answer about ECU coding. I think I may have damaged my ECU Ref: 113 153 30 79 when I allowed water to get into the ECU after I (stupidly) pressure washed the car at the weekend forgetting I had left the RHS cover of the SAM/ECU box! Then I started the car and it ran like a pig perhaps firing on 5-6 Cylinders only then did I realise. The result has been that in spite of cleaning and drying out the ECU I am getting multiple errors regarding Injectors & Misfires and Secondary Air Control. Ok put this all behind me and go and purchase a second hand ECU with identical part number and revision level. THE question is does this need coding to the car's VIN. Some threads I have read say it does and others say no. I have a Star C3 diagnostic system, currently on loan to a friend (who has gone on holiday) so I can't even set this up to see if it is an option on there. I want to get the car on the road for summer as it's been in storage/SORN'd for last 9 months. Please can anyone advise. Pictures of ECU which make me think it's fried attached before and after shot of water damaged chip/board in ECU. You will see that pin 33 looks to have burnt away and pin 35 partially. Yes I know I'm an idiot for not checking the covers!
