2004 e200 Kompressor
Hi, I have a MB 2004 e200 recently bought. New to automatics. With accelerator fully pressed from take off, the gears will shift from 1st to 2nd to 3rd but when the car gets to 60mph it will not change up unless I let off the accelerator. Physically the car acts in a juddering manner as if it was out of petrol. When in 4th and I attempt an overtaking manoeuvre the gear will drop to 3rd but immediately give the symptoms previously described. Has had lambda sensor, and a fuel pump changed as codes dictated by a mechanic. Yellow engine light had come to warrant these measures. Engine light has returned within a day. Under warranty. Sales person has said the gearbox is fine. My own mechanic says that the Air Flow Sensor needs to be replaced as dictated by computer, salesperson says otherwise. My question is, is it normal for an automatic to act this way when it is changing gear? Please note I do not drive in this manner regularly but have been attempting to understand the way the car works.
Yours Faithfully,
Ian
