2005 CLS500 knocking noise from suspension

bit of an odd one.

i have a 57k 2005 cls 500. when driving around multi-storey carparks i hear a noise that sounds a bit like two stones being hit together. it seems to come from the front left of the car.

no error messages on the suspension and the car drives perfectly.

any clues?

My first guess would be worn top or bottom ball joint.

Had same issue with mine, replaced arm by arm, joint by joint....guess what last one we did eliminated the noise-lower front arm and we couldn't fault it, there was no play, damage to it whatsoever
