If you are going to keep a belt in the car also keep something that is 'man' enough to cut the belt should the worse happen and it gets tangled up , you will also need the correct socket (17mm ?) and bar to take relieve the tension to put the new belt on.It seems just about anything that can go wrong has and given how much you have spent on maintenance I'd also feel the same.
I did think the other day that I must buy a serpentine belt to keep in the car
