2007 C55 Estate, laundry list

I had a call from the service manager at the Merc dealership I took the car too - apparently no one touched the drivers side mirror, so the connector must have fallen out by itself, whilst the retaining spring decided to fail in order to keep the connector company. It sounds unlikely, I grant you, but if no one touched it then once you've discounted the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

Brakes - I swore I'd never modify this car, but I can't help thinking that the rear brakes look a bit crap. Is there a simple upgrade for the rears, or would it require front and rear both being upgraded at the same time with (say) SLK55 brakes?

Thinking these on the back, for e.g.

Feeling my way a little here, but I think this is what I might need:

Part Number: 003.420.48.83
Front brake Caliper, 6 Piston
Part Number: 004.420.50.20
Front brake pads (x2 required)
Part Number: 171.421.01.20
Front brake rotors (x2 required)
Part Number: 003.420.29.83
Rear Brake Caliper, 4 piston
Part Number: 003.420.30.83

I might need wear sensors as well - not sure?

Some stern prices in there.

i remember looking at this briefly, i think i may have posted some info here or at another forum.

the slk ones sound familiar, but, as you suspected the 17 inch rims are very unlikely to clear them

also they were massively expensive

Current rotors are 345mm with the standard four piston brakes, which do fit under the 17” winters.

The SLK brakes actually run on a 5mm smaller rotor, but of course the callipers are physically larger.

I guess I’d need to offer the wheels up, unless anyone has an SLK55, and could answer authoritatively?

And just to finish the switch-saga off, I've now installed the correct one:

Got in the car today and the CD changer magazine won't eject, and the message on the COMAND screen says "no magazine", anyone got any ideas on what's borked?

Mine did this a while back..... I was going to pull the changer out of the glove box the following morning. After leaving the car for twelve hours, I opened the glove box lid to find that the magazine had popped out. Stuck it back in and it's been fine and jim dandy.

This is quite a common problem, even when new, so there are a few guides on the Internet.

If your gun isn’t handy then try using something else to give the front face of the cartridge (not the auto hanger) a solid knock whilst pressing and holding the eject button - the video below should help.

Hah! I'll try some percussive maintenance later on today when it stops raining.

Does anyone know how much new cartridges cost, and where to get them from, as we're talking about the CD Multichanger?

Went to collect a takeaway last night and the car was completely dead - no electrical power at all.

It's currently on the charger, but the key thing here is to identify what flattened the battery.

I have left an inductive charger for my iPhone plugged into the fag lighter, but I thought that it was switched live rather than permanent live - am I wrong?

I'd really like to be wrong, as that would mean I've identified the problem, and unplugging the iPhone charger when I park the car will resolve it.

MOT time, £1,200 including a service B. Most of that cost is the service and new front discs and pads.

I forgot to mention, Auto Audio in Park Royal fitted new heating elements to the base of both front seats, which was (I thought) the last job to do. Then whilst driving home last night I found that the LED’s in the headlight switch have almost all died, so I have to replace that (again!) £292.60 for a new unit so I’m giving eBay one last go at £28 delivered before pulling the trigger on a new part.

This is what I mean, annoying when you're trying to find the setting you want, hopefully the new switch will fix it:

In other news, and I'm sure just to annoy me, my parking sensors are turning themselves off every time you turn them on:

Which is extremely annoying - anyone know the likely cause of this?

Faulty sensor/s... get the codes checked and replace the relevant sensor/s :)
