Yesterday, whilst sitting in traffic I noticed a few strange issues. Firstly, when coming to a stop with brake pedal engaged, I would release the pedal and the brakes wouldn't release for about another 1 second or so. Secondly, the gears seemed to be a bit temperamental where they wouldn't change at all. I couldn't change to manual or sport mode through pressing the m..s..c button on the centre console. I limped home and turned the car off. When I restarted later, all was fine.. Any ideas? Full service history, well looked after, no fast driving.

Apart from enthusiastic driving, are there any other causes of such symptoms?

Cheers

I had similar problems and especially changing up and no kickdown. I took it in to MB who located a faulty sensor. Its been fine since. Cant advise on cost however as it was repaired under warranty.

Your gear switch (m,s,c) is broken and something in the gearbox as well. Mine went last year but MB did it under warrenty. It will get worse. It will start to lurch into 1st gear and then not change up at all and you'll be stuck in 1st gear. Its not a part my MB dealership held in stock either and took a couiple of days to get it. Get it booked in as soon as you can mate.
