2008 Le Mans

Well it just goes to show: Ask a hundred people... :)

Let's do it this way:

I carry a triangle, a first aid kit, and spare bulbs. I don't carry a fire extinguisher, and I don't convert my headlamps (my night-time driving is all done in very rural areas). I carry colour copies of my V5 and my insurance. I carry my driving licence.

I have never been fined.

Mind you, I've never been stopped ;)

Except once, I drove through an escaped-convict search cordon, and they scruitinised my documents, but then sent me on my way.

You're obviously a master of disguise..

I didn't know the hi-vis was only for French cars. I only need one then. Not 2 :)

At the cost (under £5) it's worth having one anyway. I keep on in the boot but have only used it once to wrap around a tow rope to pull a van. worked though.
Strangely I think I might have two triangles, need to check.

No spare bulbs though..

Years ago a friends Lotus was saved by a passing motorist having a fire extinguiser, you never know.

In the Bus I always have:-

Spare bulbs
Yellow vest (I was given this on a toll road in France one year)
Torch
Triangle (its a merc..its in the boot)
First Aid kit (as above)
Tow rope
fire extinguisher
Proper jack
Lever for wheel bolts
Gloves

Documents:-

Insurance
Green Card
Passport
Driving Licence (both bits)
Copy of V5
Mercedes garage list (europe)

Never converted my lights in the past 12 or so times over there. Never been stopped.

What time does the race start?

This year it will start at 3pm I belive it is because of the European cup football. It normally starts at 4pm but they change it during the European cup

3pm French time France have a one hr time differance to UK but I canot remember which way. Do any of the members fancy a GTG in the Le Mans area.

Hurrah, the count down has begun, spare room is festooned with "guff" to take down.

Stickers will be applied tomorrow or Monday weather permitting. Don't want to put them on too early or I'll look like a right t1t commuting to work on Monday / Tuesday !

All packed ready for the off tomorrow. Fingers crossed the weather holds out!

Just got back and am knackered. Pics to follow...
