Hi!

I'm a new member to this forum and i've been having some issues recently with my 2008 c200cdi.
When i try and cold start the car it barely turns on the first try. My battery voltage seems OK as it's around 11.5-12.3 when i check it before starting.

I've attatched a video of me trying to start it for the first time today where you see it fails. If you look closely the glowplug light also turns on and off as it should.

"cold start"

Then the other video is one i took after 10 mins of driving, the car starts perfectly then.

Start after 10 mins of driving

The car doesn't throw any fault codes or lights at all. All that's happened recently is a big service and replacing the fuel filter.

Anyone have any insight on how i could diagnose this?

Thanks!

Your battery is in very poor condition.

A fully charged battery should be around 12.6 to12.8 V

A reading of 11. 5 V is severely discharged with very little energy stored. Voltage also is no indicator of battery health as a battery needs to be tested under load.

Have you measured the voltage with the engine running? It should be around 14.4V if the alternator is working correctly.
