My '91 300TE is only on 194k . I completely forget and disregard this number. Engine/suspension/gearbox/brakes etc all feel nice and fresh.
To be honest, there's not a hint of wear on the driver's seat (seriously), steering wheel or pedals, and maybe just the slightest signs of use on the gear shift. I wonder how many of these W124s are actually showing the correct mileage?
Couple of blisters starting on the front outer wing at the bottom, but other than that it shows you just how well built these cars were when new
Once the novelty had worn off, and I was re-furbishing a house, it came in very handy until I got the first 124 estate.
Was great for picking up bulky/long items. You could just fold the roof down, plonk stuff on the back seat and then cover it with the roof again if neccessary.
Also good for copper pipe, guttering etc.
I saw it as revenge for poor reliability . Was a lease car deal after all, so when 2 years was up I just handed it back without issue
