2010 Mercedes E350 3.0 v6
Hi everyone.

My 2010 Mercedes E - Class 3.0 V6 Blue Efficiency won't start. The AA diagnosed a bad steering column and was able to start the car so it could get me home after wiggling and hitting the steering wheel but it won't start now and nothing happens when the key is in ignition as tohugh it doesn't see the key is inserted.

I am looking for part on Ebay but not sure if it is the correct one though via description it seem it is. The Mercedes dealership refused to give me a part number.

Also is this a very difficult thing to replace on this car , or can a competent DIYER quite likely be able to do it ? I was told it will need programming but was thinking of fitting it myself and then getting someone come out and program it ? A tutorial would be excellent. Many thanks

From your description it sounds like you have a faulty Electronic Steering lock . not steering column?
Find a Mercedes specialist who knows these cars and arrange for it to be trailered there for diagnosis.
I'm miles from your location so can't help with any Mercedes specialist suggestions.

Thanks very much for your response. It could cost over £400 to trailer it to a garage so ideally if applicable I'd prefer a mechanic to come to me.

Isn't the steering lock on the Column so it has to be removed regardless of am I mistaken ?

Yes it is. There is a small motor inside that has to be replaced.
