2011 E63 filler flap

So filled up this morning (the price of fuel!!!), put the filler cap back in but then the filler flap would not stay closed. I tried to close it numerous times, locked and unlocked the car but no joy. It looks like there is some kind of magnetic arrangement that should keep it closed. Any ideas greatly received.

Have you tried to unlock the car, then click the filler cap shut. It won't shut if its in the locked position.

Do you have Mercedes breakdown cover? The Mercedes branded vans carry replacement fuel filler flap releases as they fail regularly. They replace them for free at the roadside. You’d have to ph at a dealer though. Depending upon the model they’re a doddle or a nightmare to replace.

Visit your local main dealer and buy a new fuel filler flap release and fit it yourself.
