2011 SLK Revealed - Offical Press Release

well.. what can i say..

its not pretty, it lacks design flow, and the back rear light clusters are horrendous. the rear arch and the blend to the rear lights look mis matched and an after thought.

The front grill is vile, and the nose really makes the car look pig like..

The interior i think is stunning, and looks classy, but the exterior is a flop.

Admittedly, it has presence in some angles, but defo not a classic, but a car that will appeal to some who are just style concious, and thus it will probably have a higher turn over of owners and thus depreciation will increase!

the wheels are nice as has been commented, but i am really disappointed with the exterior! Its like its got style of style sake, not a necessity nor a design touch, but they saw a boring panel and added a feature!

This is not something on my wish list for now... oh well...

In the current climate I would be turned off by 27mpg (combined) from a model that is labled 'Blue effeciency' and i bet in the real world it doesn't come close to that figure

(not that i could afford one!!!!!)

May be its just the pictures but it has the lines of a Vauxhall Tigra to me.

As Colin b says it does not look right or balanced some how.

I really like it - think they've done a fantastic job getting it up to date. I never liked the first one - the second gen was okay, but this one is lovely.

My only query is what will the SL look like now....

Autocar says the new SLK 350 achieves 39mpg combined, so assuming they're right, I'd guess the 27mpg quoted for the SLK 250 is based on US standards.

I like it , that trick roof sounds excellent :)

Cabin looks a million times better than the current SLK. I can see it being a success.

I think it looks superb, Mercedes now feels like a modern brand rather than a brand that makes solid cars but whose design is a little old fashioned and dated.

Very predictable you lot! Nearly all the recent mercs have gone down like lead balloon on here (search for the w204 and w211 in particular) yet 6 months later the forum is full of new owners! :)

Do you cut and paste the same review for every new merc? So, which model did you order? :D :D

No, it warms the neck of the driver/passenger when the roof is down.

That's Airscarf, I couldn't live without that on my old 171 350 so had to have it on my E350 CDI..

Aircap does benefit the rear passengers more yeah but I think it makes a noticable difference in the front of the cabin too.

I had the MB glass deflector on my 171 and it was worse than the cloth one - just had improved visibility out the rear view mirror, so can't understand why they'd go with some fancy moveable wind deflector instead of just a normal one with Aircap.

I'd be pretty p**sed off if I'd just bought an SLS and found the interior being shoe-horned into an SLK as well, way to dilute how special that car is

That's Airscarf isn't it? I've got that on my current SLK.

I though Aircap was the little spoiler that rises from the windscreen header rail on the W212 coupé.

EDIT: Dr-Nab got in first...

So you've ordered one then....

is it me do think the new slk look like the Chrysler crossfire ( urh) having had the current shape slk no way as bold design looks boring .if I was in the market for 2 door roadster I go for the new shape bmwz4 first time I chose bmw over merc in design

I have figured it out!

the one thing that im finding hard to digest abut the new design direction, whether it be this slk, or the new cls is the front bonnet line..

i find that the bonnet line of the new models seems to follow the VW Passat of the early 90's

eg -

which i think is awful and in time the mercs will see the alignment issues that so many of the vw models did back then
