Hello,
I have added the Harman system to 2013 GLK.
Info:
Don't need an amp turn on lead. Run power to rear sam original fuse slot. Sam will cut power when car is turned off and supply power when car is turned on.
AVINUSA has an expensive MOST fiber cord with needed connector, be care-full , its the only one I found, stuff on ebay may look like it to those inexperienced. Ebay has cheap most y-cable that you can easily disassemble and use the connectors to create the daisy chain need. Mercedes dealer could sell you a very cheap fiber repair coupling instead. I had a bad experience with avin. It took a long time, they sent the wrong cord, claimed their supplier sent them the wrong part, made me pay for shipping back the wrong part, phone communication didn't work, had to rely on email which took a couple days for reply. Borrowed the MOST from the satellite while waiting for the correct cord to arrive. Note: if you do this, remove the canbus wire connector (3 wires in a square block that fits into the side of the MOST connector before plugging the MOST into the amp, otherwise you will blow a couple of fuses ( 1 is the media interface fuse) in rear SAM.
Used an oem amplifier pigtail and mounting bracket. Used existing door wiring. The stock wiring is very small gauge but does work and can carry the low power this system puts out per speaker. Upgraded speakers to H/k ones. NOTE: Front door has a woofer and a tweeter but only two wires go to front door, the door harness splits to accommodate. Goto engineering mode in command to enable external amplifier, reboot, enjoy.
Navigation muting while instructing works. Phone muting while ringing works. Phone works.
Haven't added the subwoofer and amp yet. Yes, It needs it, bass isn't good enough at low volume.
I suspect I still need to have the amp programed with eq settings to match a glk. In engineering mode there is a place to upload off SDCARD eq settings. the amp has the right part number for a glk, but was probably not from a glk. Ive notice e class and c class and others use amps with the 204 prefix.
Also, I noticed the ipod I have hooked up is not selectable now in user interface. It is connected, lit up and says on its own screen that it is connected to mb. I wonder if the amp has stolen the media interface place on the MOST daisy chain. Perhaps amp does need to be programmed on the MOST daisy chain.
