Good day to all. Came here with a question, my wife's daily E63 started to exhibit an intermittent misfire. Now all the local garages haven't got a clue and all are going down the path of, "let's change the coils and the spark plugs and see where that gets us to". The car might miss fire once in 300 miles, and if that happens, we simply pull over and switch the engine off, restart it and the problems gone. I'm sure if the coils have failed, it would misfire all the time. So we're looking for any specialists or "wizards" who might know the m157 engines inside out and help us to sort this issue out. We're based in Worcestershire, so ideally in any of the surrounding counties but willing to go nation wide for the "wizard".
Thank you all!

When I had a coil fail, it misfired until I got home, then after restarting, it went about 3 days before it did it again, then I replaced it.

Quick question OP, how does your M157 do on oil consumption, mine was on the greedy side or the guys who used to service it used to fill it to the minimum level

M157 do like a drink. When I asked the dealer about it they advised that it’s best to track it using this method: note the mileage when prompted by the trip computer to add a litre of oil, and add exactly one litre; calculate distance between top ups.

The distance covered between the service and the first prompt will probably be quite a lot more than subsequent top ups. This doesn’t necessarily mean that oil consumption has increased, it’s more likely because the oil level was high after the service than after the subsequent top ups

It’s important to only top up with exactly one litre to make sure that the data you collect is directly comparable, but also to make sure that you don’t dangerously overfill, especially if there’s a sensor fault or if you are not on level ground when topping up.

OP, any updates? What's the mileage on your car, has it been tuned?

the M157 is notorious for drinking as mentioned above, they also have a high failure rate even for standard engines with no mods or tune. Atilio at brothers performance have done a lot of research and made some good contacts to get these lumps rebuild.

My add 1 litre message came up yesterday, 1739 miles after its last service, 3.5 months.
Car has done 50k mies.

As long as you top up with 1 litre only, then the mileage at the next “add 1 litre” message will be the key indicator of how much oil it’s using.
