The hazard lights flash quickly when setting alarm with no siren, if the remote is pressed about four times quickly the lights go off.
Central locking and alarm functions all appear fine. Any ideas?

Am i being thick here guys but should there be a audible sound from the alarm when i lock the doors? The indicators flash as they should. I've only had the car for 2 months and it has never made a sound when lockin the doors i just assumed that was normal. Can anyone help. I've got a 2001 w203.

I would like to know this too! (w203 2001, mine doesnt make a noise either, just the lights flash). Infact do all w203 come with an alarm as standard? In the manual there is a switch with an alarm symbol but i dont have that switch. Also it says if you open the door with the metal key (instead of remote) the alarm should go off till you put key in ignition but it doesnt in my case.

I thought it was now illegal for car alarms to chirp when being locked/unlocked? I know the chirp can be turned on or off on my alarm, it use to but now it dosen't, I think the dealer may have disabled it on my car.

Fitted new siren under NSF wheel arch liner now all works OK, The siren now chirps on lock / unlock which it didnt before.
Thanks again

hi i had the same problem. i had to replace the alarm siren with the updated one from a slk. cost about £45 i had no chirp or alarm sound but had the indicators flashing, when i replaced the siren i had the alarm sound back and the chip on lock/unlock, but i know some w203s dont have the option enabled and this can be done in the rear sam as the netherland setting using the star. when i opened the siren unit up i found it to be corroded as water had entered on the pcb board. hope this helps!
