Hi all, am wanting to remove the headlamp units from my CLK and give the inside of the lenses a good clean. Have undone all the obvious screws etc but am not sure how to actually remove the thing.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks
Rich

I'm with you on this. So far i've used Brasso on the outsides and I had a look at removing the lights but there's so much stuff around them, that I didn't bother.

I look forward to reading this thread. Thanks for posting it.

Glad I'm not the only one then! The ones on the offside seem particularly dirty but it does look like a lot of grief to get them out.

I was told today that rouge, as in the red makeup some gals plaster on their faces, is really good for buffing too. I found my dremel and a cloth buffing wheel, so i'm going to have a go tomorrow.

Any of you chaps know where I can find a bucket of rouge as the guy in Halfords was a little stumped/ missed my sense of humour totally as he strided off to look for it in the Autoglym aisle. Bless...

I think you may mean jewellers rouge :)

Okay. that does it. If I have to dismantle the bumper, the headlights stay on...buggritt!!!

That'll be the stuff Ted; Jeweller's rouge. So now I have to go to a Jeweller in Brighton and ask them for some rouge so I can polish my headlights? Shiny-glassed headlights are becoming a very unlikely thing.

There must be another way to polish our headlights?

Thanks N70GP.

I'm going to try to polish them with some baking powder toothpaste first.

How you getting on Tubbystar?

Abandoned that particular idea for the time being.....

Might have a look at the bumper tomorrow though, time and weather permitting. Anyone taken one of these off ? (and put it back again!)
