Hi All
I was asked by a member for the pin out connections for connectiing a canbus adapter for the above installation scenario and I thought I'd post my old instruction sheet here for anyone else who may be interested. Alfie/ Richard may care to double check but it worked for me at the time. In fact much of the following I am certain is taken from Richards original instructions that he sent me / from his web site
Comand E class into ML using a canbus adapter
Using the MB wiring loom adapter
Plug into the 10 way audio 10 connector – this splits into 2 black plugs – small 8 way = C1 large 18way = C2
Into the small plug go the CD changer power wires
Into the large plug are the D2b Wakeup & reverse signal wires.
D2B wakeup is used for the CD changer – at the CD changer end is a small black 3 pin plug. D2B, Positive & Earth
To wire in the canbus adapter its best to solder all connections.
As the ML loom adapter already comes with C1 & C3, its best to wire the canbus adapter into those connectors.
Can bus adapter connections
· The Blue wire connects to the Lighting wire on ISO power plug A that goes to pin 6
· The Black Wire connects to the Ignition wire on ISO power Plug A pin that goes into pin 7
· The Green wire clips into pin 8 on C2
· The yellow wire clips into pin 9 on C2
· The Brown wire is soldered to the existing CD changer Earth on C1 pin 5
· The Red wire is soldered to the existing CD changer Live on C1 pin 4
· An extra supplied white wire is required to be soldered onto the existing speed pulse on ISO power Plug A pin 1 to C2 pin 6
So that’s 7 wires to connect .
Remember to tape up all soldered connections and don’t connect too close to the ISO plugs – leave plenty of slack .
The ISO plug pins are thus:
Looking at the rear of Comand:
1 3 5 7
2 4 6 8
1 Speed Signal (also link this to Pin 6 on C2) using the white wire supplied
2 K line diagnostic (goes to the diagnostic plug for dealer programming of comand (poss necessary for extended phone features and TV as and when they are added)
3 Telephone Mute
4 fuse box 12 v permanent live
5 auto antenna feed
6 lighting - connect to canbus blue wire
7 fuse box 12v ignition live - connect to canbus black wire
8 Earth (brown)
If you need additional pins for C1 or C2 I used a prewired pin, cut off the male end and soldered onto it . the part is A 0005404505 £1 each (a few years ago) I believe and they are white.
